fisiocrem takes five with…Ryan aka Running Guy

What sport do you participate in?
My passion is running but I also love the challenge of a triathlon. And next year I’m looking at getting into Obstacle Course Racing

What is your greatest sporting achievement?
Completing Ultraman Australia (2015), 37 athletes from around the world competing in an epic 3 day ultra triathlon, consisting of a 10km swim, 420km ride and 84km run at Noosa. It was amazing. I will be competing again in 2017.

When was the first time that you realised that your sport was becoming your passion?
My Brother wanted a training buddy for triathlons. In 2013 he decided to do the Cairns Half Ironman and convinced me to join him. Back then I never ran for fun. When I joined a running club to help with my training, they told me about parkrun. I loved it immediately and it became a Saturday morning ritual. Suddenly I enjoyed running and ‘Running Guy’ was born.

What is your favourite part of competing?
All of it! From training right up to race day, the race itself and then the celebrations that follow.

What does a standard days training consist of?
There’s no ‘standard’ day for me but a good training week for me in the lead up to Ultraman Australia 2017 will include up to 100km of running, cycling 200 – 400 km and swimming 5-10km

What is the most important aspect of your training?
Don’t let it take over your life. Have fun with.

What does a standard post-event recovering consist of?
The 3 F’s – A foam roller, fisiocrem and a good feed

What is your ultimate sporting goal?
I love what I do and I have many goals. I would love to run all the big marathons around the world… and be paid to do it (I can dream can’t I?). I want to challenge myself and take part in ultra endurance events bigger than Ultraman. (And I’m looking into one late 2017). And then there’s time goals, one of them being a sub 3hr marathon.

Who is your sporting idol and why?
I have many sporting idols. Marathon runners Steve Moneghetti and Rob de Castella and Triathletes Craig Alexander and Pete Jacobs to name a few.

What advice would you give to someone that is interested in taking up your sport?
Just remember to enjoy yourself

What is the biggest challenge you face when competing?
I race a lot and the race fees add up! I think the biggest challenge is trying to pay off my credit card! ?

What’s your favourite thing about fisiocrem (‘that it’s free’ is not the correct answer!)?
The company itself has a fun and friendly vibe. That’s what attracted me to fisiocrem in the first place, seeing their crazy and motivational signs during Gold Coast Marathon in 2015. The support it gives to athletes and running groups is amazing. And then the product itself just rocks!

We love compliments so we’d love if you could provide us with a testimonial for use on our website, social media and ads.
fisiocrem is AMAZING! For a person like me that is constantly active and has very little recovery time, fisiocrem gives me the relief I need so I can keep going.
